Seafront of Salerno Seen from S. Teresa Beach

There is an interesting fact bound to this part of the seafront of Salerno, a little town situating not so far from Naples (60 km). It was built with the detrits of the last big flood of 1954 when about 120 persons died. The Old town was covered with the mud and all kinds of detrits for 3 and more meters. The persons could touch the clock of the clock-tower of the church with their hands.
Residents cleaned all that detrits and put them near the sea. And the seafront was built over them…
